George Town & Sheffield

Transend Networks owns and operates the electricity transmission system in Tasmania. The system consists of extra high voltage transmission lines and transmission substations. Due to the high security requirement, Transend is progressively upgrading the fencing tto its substations.

Stubbs Constructions Pty. Ltd. was awarded the contract to replace the security fence at the George Town and Sheffield Substations. This Project required the replacement of 2.0 km of exiting fence. This work included the following:

• Construction of foundations, and plinths, including conduits and pits.
• Erection of new 3.0 m high Weldmesh security fence.
• Construction of new gates.
• Extension of the existing earth grid.
• Provision of a safety rail around the existing SW pit.
• Extension of the existing oil containment system pipe.
• Landscaping.
• Demolition of existing fence.
